U.S. oil imports expected to hit mark not seen in almost half a century

Next year the United States is expected to import its lowest amount of oil since 1970. By the end of 2015, imported oil will account for just 22 percent of what is used in the States.

Because of the all the oil being produced in the U.S., the industry is urging the Obama government lift a prohibition on crude exports which has been in place since the Arab oil embargo in 1973.

Canada currently provides 30 percent of U.S. imports.
