Gascana AB Energy Ltd. is behind a plan to produce 3-thousand tonnes of liquefied natural gas at a facility proposed for Edmonton. Gascana is a joint venture company formed by China’s Qingdao Sinoenergy Corporation, Asiafic Clean Energy Limited of Hong Kong (a subsidiary of Qingdao Sinoenergy Corporation) and Petrox Resources, which is headquartered in Calgary.
The plant would be built north of Edmonton in Sturgeon County. The benefit for the region would be about 2-thousand new jobs. The benefit for China would be the natural gas which would be shipped by rail to the west coast and then sent to the Asian country.
This is still in the early stages as a proposal must still go to the Alberta Energy Regulator for review and approval.
